|History and Motorsports Experience
|Here at Hullco we like to go fast, and always have. Check out some of
the history of the personnel here at Hullco Layton Garage.
Newton Speed and Auto: Our general manager, Art Bastian, started a new business in 1973 where Hullco's
current engine builder and mechanic, Steve Decker as well as Art built engines, sold speed equipment, and
eventually built dirt modified chassis. Bob Mahlzan drove his famous fireball 99 to several victories including a
100 lapper at Nazareth Speedway as seen below. The complete car was built at Newton Speed.
Drag Racing and Engine building: Art worked for famed engine builder Tony File from 1967 to 1968. He
also worked for Pete Van Iderstine from '69 to '71 where he ran a 1955 Chevy in several drag races including
the NHRA Gator Nationals in Gainesville, Florida. In the Winter of 1970, Art showed his 1967 Camaro at the
Old New York Coliseum Show, which he raced in the 1971 season.
Bonneville Salt Flat's: Art also has some experience at the salt flat's. Shown here is his 1925 Model T built by
Dick Kraft, also know as "The Highland Plating Special". This car was an AHRA National record holder in the
early 60's with it's supercharged flathead engine.
And we're still racing...
Art and the Hullco team are involved in employee Brody Adamsky's racing team. Brody currently drives a 600 Sprint car
all over the Tri-State Area.
